For the website and email to work as expected, you need to point the domain to our web hosting.
How you do this may vary depending on which provider you purchased your domain name from. If you don’t know how to make the changes explained below, please contact us (or your provider) for assistance.
There are two methods for pointing your domain name to our web hosting:
- You can change the name servers your domain name uses (recommended) or
- Manually create the necessary DNS records with your provider
Change nameservers
Our name servers are:
- ns1.centoba.cloud
- ns2.centoba.cloud
Settings for which nameservers your domain uses are changed at your provider (domain registrar).
Because all providers are different, we have created an example of how this is done at Domeneshop AS.
- Log in to Domenshop AS with the correct username and password
- First select “My domains” and click on the domain name you want to change
- When the domain name is selected, click “Name servers” from the menu
- Enter the new name servers and confirm the change by clicking “Save changes”
Please note that it may take some time for this change to be activated (normally no more than 1-2 hours, but in some cases longer).
Only when the domain is using our nameservers will the DNS records be controlled from our hosting panel (advanced users). Our web hosting will automatically create all the necessary DNS records you need and is not something you normally need to change unless you have special needs.
Create DNS records (advanced)
If you have special needs or for other reasons do not want to use our name servers for your domain, you must create the DNS records manually.
When you create a new website on one of our hosting plans, you will be able to see from the hosting panel which IP address the website, email and any other services are listening on.
You decide yourself how many DNS records you want to create, but for the website, emails and automatic SSL certificate to work as expected, these are mandatory:
- Website: A + AAAA
- Email: A + DKIM + SPF
